Matt Hughes

Matt is a Sound Recordist and OB Sound Assistant with experience in Live Broadcasts, Reality TV, Commercials, and Factual Entertainment for major broadcasters. He is also a member of the Institute of Professional Sound (IPS) and The Association of Motion Picture Sound (AMPS)

I started as a freelance Sound Recordist in 2014 and have since worked on a variety of different productions from the guilty pleasure that is €œEscape to the Country€, to the wild west of the Yukon with €œGold Rush. I have worked in a variety of different environments including caving deep under the Mendip Hills, to floating across Lake Windermere in a luxury yacht.

In 2018 I started working as a freelance OB Sound Assistant and have worked on productions for BBC, BT Sport, Sky Sports, and Premier Sports. Including PRO14 Rugby, Cage Warriors, BBC Election Coverage, and the European Golf Tour.

Over the years I have worked in a variety of different situations and I am very used to adapting to new challenges, and my work in live TV has given me experience of working in high pressure and fast paced environments. I am always happy to help other crew when the need arises and understand the importance of a team working well together when on location.

Away from work I like to keep active and often run, cycle, or train at my local gym. I also play in a local brass band in which we regularly attended fundraising events to support charities in the area.
