Stu Bruce, tasked as Sound Supervisor for SABSOUND and a new primetime Reality Game Show Series for ITV worked with the producers from Electric Ray to provide the complete recording package required for the series. This involved preparing a tonne & half of equipment sent to Bulgaria to build a studio at the impressive Nu Boyana Film Studios where the series was to be filmed.

A large site that required a central sound gallery to capture the 18-channel radio mic system utilising Fibre for the multiple locations spread across the site as well as wireless program sends to In Ear Monitors for the all the Executive Producers, Series Producers, Assistant Producers and Series Directors to hear anything required from the various large-scale events happening as well as guide tracks to cameras. The series was part game show, part reality series so there was a need for Self-Shooting directors and Producers to be able to listen or record independently to any of the multiple cameras filming on site independent of each other.

We set up a frequency plan which allowed for all the individual radio mics, Gallery Sends, PSC Sound Mixer sends to be dialled into by anyone on site allowing full flexibility for recording and monitoring alike. The central sound gallery also recorded spot mics for requested areas to capture the full extent of the reality cast with or without their individual mics on such as bedrooms & communal areas. There were many challenges to overcome with the size of the site, nature of the events, multiple formats, and number of cameras and crew involved but the central sound gallery was able to master all inputs and sends distributing Timecode to every device in use wirelessly and have a master record hard drive for the entire site 24 hours a day which served as a dream to postproduction for the edit.
