Historical Documentary / Entertainment / Reality

Historical Reality Series filmed by Self Shooting Director Producer Chris Terril and sound mixer Stu Bruce crossing the South Pacific from Cairns Australia to Jakarta Indonesia. Co-produced for the BBC & The History Channel USA, set on the Replica Captain Cooke Ship the Endeavour, 55 crew members attempted to re-enact the journey Captain Cooke made himself and life aboard an 18th Century Ship. There were a dozen fulltime sailors with the skills needed to manage a square rigger, supplemented with a varied group of volunteers, amongst whom were groups of specialists – botanists, navigators, and international group of historians. A challenge to cover the emerging stories and technically record the sound from the cramp decks below to the rigging aloft while rolling across the seas for 7 weeks. His approach to a reality series 20 years ago required the same amount of Indepth planning and consideration to ensure the multiple formats of cameras used were in sync with the sound, contributors were recorded wherever they were, and Producers were able to hear content to story produce. The equipment required was far heavier and far bulkier, but the results were the same due to his focused planning, attention to detail and determination to deliver the best.
