"Chasing the Dream" - Shooting my first year on the F1 & F2 circuit!

Director and Shooting P/D
If you had told me as a kid that I’d one day travel the world, filming the next generation of motorsport talent on their journey to Formula 1, I probably wouldn’t have believed you. But that’s exactly what happened in my first year as a Shooting Producer Director (PD) on Chasing the Dream, a documentary series following Formula 2 drivers as they fight for a shot at the big leagues. It was a year of adrenaline, challenges, and unforgettable experiences that have only deepened my love for motorsport.
The Thrill of the F2 Paddock
F2 is the final stepping stone before F1, and the intensity of competition is unmatched. These young drivers are hungry, ambitious, and giving everything they have to make it to the top. Capturing their highs and lows, their triumphs and heartbreaks, was an emotional rollercoaster. Being trackside, camera in hand, as they pushed themselves to the limit was a privilege and a rush like no other.

The Global Adventure
The job took me to some of the most iconic and thrilling locations in motorsport:
- Belgium – The legendary Spa-Francorchamps, with its unpredictable weather and challenging Eau Rouge corner.
- Australia – Melbourne’s Albert Park, where the mix of cityscape and racetrack makes for an electric atmosphere.
- UAE – Yas Marina, with its dramatic night races and the high stakes of the season finale.
- Monaco – The jewel of motorsport, where the narrow streets and high stakes make every moment cinematic.
- Italy – Monza, the Temple of Speed, where history and passion collide.
- Azerbaijan – Baku, a street circuit that tests the skill and nerve of every driver.
Each destination brought its own unique challenges, from scorching heat in the UAE to unpredictable rain in Belgium. But that’s what made it all the more rewarding—adapting, thinking on my feet, and making sure every shot told the right story.

The Challenges of the Job
Filming for Chasing the Dream meant working at a relentless pace. Over a race weekend, we had to capture enough content for a compelling 15-minute segment, which meant constant movement, decision-making, and quick reactions. The speed of the sport is exhilarating, but it also means there’s no room for hesitation. You have to be in the right place at the right time, ready to capture the decisive moments.
Weather was another battle. One moment it’s blazing sunshine; the next, a downpour threatens to ruin a shot. Then there’s the sheer unpredictability of motorsport—accidents, last-minute strategy changes, unexpected interviews—all of which meant staying adaptable and always having a backup plan.
The Best Part? The People
What made this experience truly unforgettable was the people. From the drivers to the teams, the crew to the fans, everyone had a story. Being able to work alongside some of the most talented young drivers in the world, getting to know their personalities beyond the helmet, and sharing their journey was the real magic. There’s something special about motorsport—it’s a blend of raw ambition, technical brilliance, and human drama, and capturing that is what I love most about my work.
Looking Ahead
After my first year, I can say without a doubt that this is one of the most exciting and rewarding jobs I’ve ever done. The travel, the intensity, the storytelling—it’s everything I’ve ever wanted in a career. And with a new season on the horizon, I can’t wait to see what’s next, both for the drivers chasing their dreams and for me, as I continue to capture their journeys.
Here’s to another year of speed, passion, and incredible stories on the road to Formula 1.
