Aldi's Next Best Thing

South Shore

Working as a cameraman on Aldi's Next Best Thing was an incredible experience—dynamic, fast-paced, and full of creative challenges. The environment was always energetic, with so much action to capture, whether it was filming product demonstrations, behind-the-scenes moments, or the lively interactions between the contestants. Every day was packed with tight schedules and multiple setups, which kept me on my toes and pushed me to adapt quickly.

Creativity was at the heart of the job. I had to think on my feet constantly, finding the best angles, lighting, and shots to make the products and personalities shine. I was part of the team filming the back stories on-location so every day was different. It was challenging but rewarding to make each setting work visually and loved flying the drone to capture some amazing shots of some strange scenes like camels walking down the road!

Collaboration was a huge part of the experience. I worked closely with directors, producers, and sound technicians to ensure the visuals matched the show’s vision. Balancing scripted segments with spontaneous moments required a lot of coordination and communication, but it was satisfying to see everything come together seamlessly. Attention to detail was crucial, especially when filming the products. I had to make sure every item looked appealing and exciting, capturing everything from close-ups to wide shots and incorporating dynamic movements to keep the visuals engaging.

There were moments when things didn’t go as planned, but finding solutions on the spot was part of the thrill.

The job was incredibly fun and fulfilling and being part of a creative, team-oriented environment made the hard work worth it. Seeing the final product on screen and knowing I played a key role in bringing it to life was an amazing feeling.

Overall, working as a cameraman on Aldi's Next Best Thing was a thrilling and rewarding experience. It pushed me creatively and technically, and I loved every moment of it. If you’re passionate about filming and storytelling, this kind of work is an incredible opportunity to grow and thrive.
