Great British Menu
Optomen
Being a cameraman on Great British Menu was an exhilarating experience. From the moment I arrived, I was immersed in the fast-paced energy of the kitchen. My job was to capture every detail—the sizzle of pans, the precision of plating, and the chefs’ intense focus. I worked closely with the lighting team to ensure the food looked as stunning on camera as it did in person.
Filming close-ups of ingredients and dishes was my favorite part. I had to be quick and precise, especially during high-pressure moments like the judges’ tastings. Capturing their reactions—whether it was a smile of delight or a critical frown—added so much drama to the show. The chefs’ interviews were equally important; I aimed to highlight their passion and personality, making their stories come alive.
The biggest challenge was keeping up with the pace. Kitchens are chaotic, and I had to adapt constantly, moving between wide shots of the action and tight close-ups of the food. But it was all worth it when I saw the final footage—every frame told a story of creativity, skill, and dedication. Working on *Great British Menu* wasn’t just a job; it was a chance to be part of something truly special.
