Location Sound Recording

I always use my own equipment, investing only in kit that is renowned for its quality and reliability. I test and maintain it before each shoot at my base in Dorset, and also out in the field.

I like my kit to be both lightweight and powerful, but most of all, it has to be reliable in tough conditions.

I use Sound Devices mixers, a range of mics including Schoeps boom mics, Audio Ltd A-10 wireless systems and lavalier mics by DPA and Countryman.

I use a range of stereo and surround sound recording techniques such as X-Y, Blumlein, MS and Double MS, each have their own advantages in certain situations. I also have a Telinga Parabolic Reflector setup for isolating specific sounds from a distance. This is especially useful in nature recording.
